What is a BTG thyristor?

The BTG thyristor is a special semiconductor device.The utility model can be used as a thyristor and can be used as a single junction transistor ( double base diode ).So it is also called program-controlled single junction transistor ( PUT ) or adjustable single junction transistor.The shape and circuit symbols of the BTG thyristor are shown in Figure.Its three electrode text symbols are the same as ordinary thyristors.

peak point current Ip

It is the current between A and K when the voltage between anode A and cathode K reaches Up.The Ip value is very small,usually 1 ~ 2 mu A.

peak point voltage Up

It is the voltage between anode A and cathode K when BTG thyristor begins to exhibit negative resistance characteristics.

valley point voltage U, which is the voltage between the anode A and the cathode K when the BTG thyristor enters the saturated area from the negative resistance zone.I, which is the valley point current,is the anode current between A and K when the voltage reaches Uv.

Question 18:BTG what are the differences between thyristors and single junction transistors?

BTG thyristor and BT31.BT33 double base diode are basically the same,but their parameters are different.

The two base resistance Rb and Ro of single junction transistor (UJT) are determined by the internal structure of the device.The gate voltage divider of BTG can change the partial pressure ratio.Voltage divider is used to change the parameter value,so it is also called program-controlled single junction transistor.

Another difference between the BTG thyristor and the single junction transistor is that the internal structure of the former uses the N gate,which is different from the traditional P gate.This structure not only makes the BTG used as a single junction transistor,but also can be used as a small power transistor.Therefore,the BTG thyristor has the outstanding advantages of adjustable parameters,high trigger sensitivity,short pulse rise time (about 60ns),small leakage current and large output power.It is widely used to form programmable pulse or sawtooth wave generator,long delay device and overvoltage protector and trigger circuit of high-power transistor.
