How to use the clamp ammeter?

The main component of the pliers ammeter is actually equivalent to a piercing current transformer. In measurement, the magnet of the clamp ammeter is placed on the measured wire to form a primary side coil.

Using the electromagnetic induction principle, the induction current will be produced in the two side coil, and the current meter pointer connected to the two side coils will cause a deviation of the current meter. Turn, indicating the value of the current in the line.

The clamp current is used as follows.

1. When using the clamp type ammeter, the position of the clamp ammeter should be selected correctly. Before the measurement, according to the negative  size of the load is roughly estimated, and the current value is shifted from the big block to the small one. When shifting, the conductor must be placed outside the clamp.

(2) Check whether the needle is pointing to zero when measuring the current. If it does not refer to zero, adjust the zero adjustment bolt on the watch head with a small screwdriver to make the needle point to zero.

When measuring the current of the motor, pull out the jaw, place a power cord in the center of the jaw, and then let the jaw close. If the jaw contact is bad, you should check whether it is damaged or dirty. When using the clamp ammeter, try to stay away from the strong magnetic field. When measuring the small current, if the range of the clamp ammeter is large, the measured wire can be circled several times in the mouth of the clamp ammeter, and then read. The actual current value should be the meter reading divided by the number of turns of the wire around the clamp ammeter.
