The difference of tube and transistor.

The electron tube uses a heated cathode to generate a cathode current for causing the cathode to emit electrons, and its cathode current is changed by the gate voltage.

The defects of the electron tube are large, the energy consumption is high, the magnification is small, and the production cost is high.

Advantages of the electron tube: When the beam current exceeds the rated value, the amplification factor decreases with the increase of the current, and the cut-off distortion is not formed. At the same time, the electron tube allows the power consumption to be relatively large.

Transistor advantages: small size, low cost, high magnification, easy to integrate production.
