Infineon Technologies AG (FSE: IFX / OTCQX: IFNNY) launched a new product, XENSIVTM DPS368. This is a miniaturized digital air pressure sensor that measures both temperature and air pressure. With an ultra-high precision of ±2 cm and low power consumption, this product is ideal for accurate measurements of altitude, airflow and body motion, making it ideal for mobile phones and wearables that support mobile tracking and navigation. Not only that, but it is also suitable for home appliances (for airflow regulation), drones (for maintaining flight stability), and medical devices (such as smart inhalers).

 

Thanks to its reliable package, the DPS368 can be held for one hour (IPx8) at 50 meters deep and protects the sensing elements from dust and moisture, which also makes the board's processing on the assembly line More convenient. The 8-pin LGA package is only 2.0 x 2.5 x 1.1 mm3, saving 80% space compared to other waterproof sensors.

Infineon's air pressure sensor uses capacitive air pressure sensor technology to ensure high-precision measurement even when temperature changes. An internal signal processor converts the output of the air pressure and temperature sensor components into a 24-bit result. With the calibration coefficients stored in the sensor, the application can convert the measurement into high-precision air pressure and temperature values. The DPS368 quickly gives feedback with a measurement rate of up to 200 Hz and fast readout speed. Not only that, the integrated FIFO memory can store up to 32 measurements, saving power throughout the system.

 

The XENSIV DPS368 sensor consumes only 1.7 μA on average when the sample rate is 1 Hz. In standby mode, it can even drop to 0.5 μA. The sensor operates from 300 to 1200 hPa and -40 ° C to +85 ° C with a temperature accuracy of ±0.5 °C. Sensor measurement data and calibration coefficients are available through the serial I2C or SPI interface.
