 The main function of the standard resistor is to generate heat. When connected in parallel with other components, the resistor can be shunted. When connected in series with other components, the resistor can be divided.

In addition, the resistive element also includes a resistor made of a semiconductor material. Their resistance will change as the external conditions change.

1. Thermistor, its resistance decreases with increasing temperature. Connected to the circuit, the temperature in the circuit can be determined by its resistance (thermal sensor)

2, the photoresistor, its resistance is greatly reduced in the presence of light. Connected to the circuit, equivalent to "optical switch"

3. Crystal diodes and triodes. In pure semiconductor materials, it is made by incorporating a specific amount of material.

 

Sometimes, it is mentioned that the resistive element also includes a superconductor element. The application prospect of superconductors is mainly reflected in electronics. It should not “heat” when it is conductive, and the computer components do not need a cooling system, which can greatly reduce the size and energy consumption of the computer.
