Jumper Wires
Jumper wires, also known as jumper cables, are short electrical wires, usually insulated, with exposed metal ends. They are mainly used to connect two electrical circuits together, both of which are contained within a single device, and to provide a temporary connection between two points. Jumper wires are used in many electronic applications for connecting components together, as well as for back-paneling an electronic system. Jumper wires are usually made from copper or copper-plated steel and are usually insulated in order to prevent short-circuits. The exposed metal ends on the jumper wires are either bare or are insulated with an insulation material such as PVC or rubber.The insulation material on the wires enables them to be safely laid on a flat surface while the connection is made without any risk of shock or short-circuits. In addition, the jumper wires do not need to be soldered in place, making them quick and easy to set up.Jumper wires are typically used in bulky designs which require a large number of connections as they can be easily and quickly connected together. For instance, they are often used in breadboards or in circuit boards. Jumper wires are also commonly used when connecting components in a circuit, and in cases where wiring is too complex to be able to solder connections in place.Pre-Crimped Leads
Pre-crimped leads are electrical leads that have already been crimped to an already insulated wire and are ready to use. Pre-crimped leads are used to join two circuits together quickly and easily, and to replace broken or damaged connections. They are mainly used in applications where a lot of wiring has to be connected quickly and tested in a timely manner.Pre-crimped leads generally have small diameter and flat-bent standoffs on both sides of the join, as well as a flexible plastic coating around the outside of the metal wire. This allows them to easily fit into the appropriate terminals on the circuit boards, while ensuring a secure connection of the two components and eliminating the need for soldering.When installing pre-crimped leads, the stands for the lead are slipped into the appropriate terminals or slots on the circuit board. The conductor is then tightened to the conductive pins or terminals with a screwdriver or wrench. Once the connection has been made, the ends of the pre-crimped leads can then be clipped off in order to maintain the integrity of the connection.Pre-crimped leads are suitable for use in applications such as wire harnessing, PCB assembly, and cable assembly. They are generally used in applications that require a high degree of reliabilty and high speed.
