This in turn alters the frequency of the alternating field, thus allowing the sensor to detect the presence of the object.Optical proximity sensors, on the other hand, work by illuminating a target object with a beam of light. When the object enters the path of the light beam, it scatters the light and induces a change in the amount of light collected by the sensor. This allows the sensor to detect the presence of the object without the use of an alternating magnetic field.
