Fuses are a key component in many electrical designs, providing the ability to protect circuits from current and voltage. The 0MAX040.XPGLO is a miniaturized ceramic fusible resistor designed and manufactured by 0MAX. While commonly used in the automotive and marine industries, they are suitable for a wide range of applications requiring a minute fuse.

The 0MAX040.XPGLO fuses measure just 0.37 inches (9.45 millimetres) in diameter and 0.2 inches (5.08 millimetres) in total length. Cylindrical in design, they feature a conical top and terminal design for simple mounting and installation. The fuse features a maximum operating voltage of 16.2 volts, while the sensing range for current ranges from 0.05 amps to 40 amps. It features four quick-acting characteristics designated Z-T-N-Z

For protection from circuit overload or short-circuit faults, the 0MAX040.XPGLO is equipped with silver-coated over-current protection (OCP). The OCP produces an immediate fuse response when an overload or short-circuit is detected, eliminating the need for a control signal. Upon sensing the overload or short-circuit condition, the OCP operates within milliseconds to disconnect the circuit, preventing any further damage.

The 0MAX040.XPGLO also incorporates a heater control circuit to provide fast, precise temperature control. The heater temperature setting is adjustable to 5+/- degree Fahrenheit (1+/- degree Celsius) and provides a secure temperature range across a variety of applications. Additionally, the heater control circuit is designed to maintain temperature stability over a wide range of environmental conditions, including high temperatures and sudden changes in ambient temperature.

To further maximize the security, the 0MAX040.XPGLO is designed to be both mechanically and electrically self-latching. This means that, once the fuse has opened in response to an overload or short-circuit condition, it cannot be reset until the condition has been corrected and the fuse has been physically replaced. This ensures that the circuit protection remains active even in the event of a second, unrelated over-current or short-circuit condition.

Given its small size, high current protection, and quick-acting characteristics, the 0MAX040.XPGLO is suitable for a wide range of automotive, marine, and other electrical applications. Its built-in over-current protection and heater control circuit make it ideal for use in tight spaces, where precise temperature control is critical.
