1.5SMC22CA V6G is a component of Transient Voltage Suppressor (TVS) Diodes, which are used in electronics applications to protect components from damage due to instantaneously large voltage spikes caused by Electro Static Discharge (ESD) or electrical over-stress (EOS). A TVS Diode is a two-terminal protection device. Typically, one terminal is the cathode and the other is the anode. The TVS diode is connected such that the cathode is connected to the component that requires protection, and the anode is connected to the voltage spike source.When the voltage spike is applied to the device, it acts like a rectifier diode, that is, it enables current flow from the anode (voltage spike source) to the cathode (protection of the device). Essentially, this is how voltage spike protection is provided. The diode can handle very fast voltage spikes, while the reverse voltage breakdown voltage remains low so as not to cause any damage to the protected component(s). In the case of the 1.5SMC22CA V6G, it has a standard cathode size and default maximum working peak reverse voltage of 22 volts (Vret). This device is rated to handle peak power ratings of 11 watts (Wpk) in−8/20 μs SMP51A waveforms, and 5 watts (Wpk) in−8/20 μs SMI51A waveforms.
