Working Principle

The 15SQ100TR is a three pin package rectifier diode based on conventional PN junction technology. It is used to convert AC signals into DC signals. A PN junction is formed between two pieces of doped semiconductor material. The P-type semiconductor has an excess of holes while the N-type semiconductor has an excess of electrons. When a potential difference is applied across the PN junction, electrons from the N-type semiconductor cross over and fill the holes in the P-type. This forms a region known as depletion layer. This layer prevents any further current flow and does not allow any current to cross the junction. The reverse bias voltage is used to reverse the flow of current, allowing it to flow through the depletion layer’s resistance.
