Terminal blocks, also known as header connectors, are electrical connectors used to join two or more wires together. Application fields

Terminal blocks are used in a variety of applications. They can be used for joining two or more conductors, connecting an electrically isolated circuit, providing electrical insulation between two or more interconnected circuits, and preventing cross-talk between tightly packaged wires. Additionally, they are frequently used in test and measurement equipment, such as oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers, for providing electrically isolated connections between multiple nodes in a system.

Working Principle

Terminal blocks are designed to provide reliable and secure electrical connections. They are typically constructed of an insulating material such as nylon, polycarbonate or ABS plastic. A slotted screw located on the outside of the block is tightened using a screwdriver. This mechanism clamps down on the wire or multiple-stranded conductor, creating a secure connection. Depending on the design, the blocks may also incorporate a spring-loaded mechanism to enable multiple strands of stranded conductor or wires to be presented directly into the terminal block without pre-stripping. This makes it easier to terminate wires while also keeping them firmly in place.In addition to providing secure connections, some terminal blocks also provide other features such as fuse holders, built-in surge protection, and signal isolation.
