The 1N3519A is an ideal zener diode for application in many general purpose circuits. It offers a range of flexible, low working voltage and power dissipation, making it suitable for a wide variety of applications from frequency control to voltage regulation.

The 1N3519A is a single zener diode, with a breakdown voltage of 8.2V and having a maximum power dissipation of 150mW at 25°C. It is easy to find in both axial and surface mount packages. The capacitance of the device is also low, at less than 10pF.

The basic working principle of a zener diode is fairly straightforward. It operates in the same way as the classic diode, but with the addition of a reverse bias voltage applied across its terminals. This causes the diode to become reverse biased, meaning that current flows in the opposite direction.
