The conduction of the two layers is reversed when a sufficient voltage is applied to the anode side.

Working Principle

This forward bias also allows the electrons at the anode to flow to the cathode, leading to conduction.When the junction is reverse biased, the electrons and holes can\'t conduct due to the depletion region formed at the junction, which makes the diode unidirectional. In this condition, hole flow stops at the N-type substrate and the electrons at the P-type layer stops due to the resistive depletion region.
