The 1N4748 G Zener diode is a single diode available in variety of Voltage ratings from 3.3V to 75Volt with a wide Power rating from 0.35W to 10W. It is mainly used for applications like voltage regulation and low current switching. It is critical for dual voltage operation and are easily available in the market.

The 1N4748 G Zener diode works on the principle of Zener breakdown. Zener breakdown occurs when the voltage applied across a Zener diode exceeds its Zener voltage or breakdown voltage. The Zener diode is a heavily doped semiconductor device which has a very narrow PN junction and a thicker than normal depletion zone. The lower the doping level, the wider the depletion zone, and the higher its Zener voltage.

When a voltage higher than the breakdown voltage is applied across the diode, a strong electric field builds in the junction. This electric field causes electrons in the depleted region near the junction to overcome the barrier potential and get across the junction, thereby allowing current to flow. The electrons then recombine with holes in the same region and the current is zero, and the whole cycle is repeated.

The 1N4748 G Zener diode is widely used in voltage regulation applications like damper diode, digital outputs, LED flasher, multiplexed display circuits, power supply switching, surge protection, and voltage regulation. It is also commonly used in digital logic circuits and op amps.
