1N485BTR is a type of single diode rectifier, which is widely applied in many fields. Its application extends to industrial welding machines, uninterrupted power supply systems and automatic voltage regulators, among other machines that require controlled dissipative power rectification. The 1N485BTR is an important component in those machines, as it controls and dissipates the voltage for a smooth performance and prevents a possible power surge damage. Considering its application, 1N485BTR feature high reverse voltage and low forward voltage drop, and powers up to 1000PIV. They are usually used with 125/250VAC and adapt to a variety of operating temperatures from -55℃ to +125℃. As for its package, 1N485BTR is available in both axial and stud types. The 1N485BTR working principle relies on the use of a single PN junction, which acts as a rectifier. This PN junction produces a constant voltage and polarity as long as the voltage supplies on each side of the junction are kept constant. This means that the PN junction will be in an OFF state when there is no voltage on either side of the junction. However, when the cathode is connected to a positive voltage and the anode is connected to a negative voltage, the current will be transferred from the cathode to the anode, thus turning the junction ON and allowing the current to flow. The current always flows from the positive to the negative in a 1N485BTR rectifier and therefore, even when the positive voltage is removed, the current will still flow through the junction, ensuring a smooth power supply to the object connected to the rectifier. Therefore, 1N485BTR single diode rectifiers are widely applied in different industries and machines, as they feature high reverse and low forward voltage drop and therefore, can be used with a variety of operating temperatures.
