The 24VL024/MS is a Type 24EEPROM memory device designed as a non-volatile storage system for general purpose applications. This chip features an 8-bit data bus and has a total memory capacity of 8k-bits (1024 words). The 24VL024/MS is available in a 144-pin low-profile quad flat packed (LQFP) package and is specified for operation at temperatures from -40 to 85°C.

The 24VL024/MS provides read, write and erase operations. With an in-built command structure, the chip can be controlled to access only the desired memory location, making sure that the contents of the other locations remain unchanged. Addressing is achieved via a 12-bit address bus and the write/read commands are latched into the chip on the falling edge of the chip enable (CE#) signal.

The 24VL024/MS has two basic modes of operation: Read and Write. The chip is designed to operate in both synchronous and asynchronous read, write and erase modes, with write cycle times as fast as 4 microseconds. The chip offers an Open Drain Write cycle, which is enabled by pulling the Write pin low. In read mode, the device will output data on the Data Out (DO) pin with a signal present on the Chip Enable (CE#) pin.

The 24VL024/MS has a number of features designed to make it an ideal choice for many applications. It features an on-chip Data Protection feature, which ensures that any write operations are not inadvertently performed. Additionally, the chip has an on-chip Error Detection Circuit, which detects and flags any errors in data that is written or read from the chip. This feature provides enhanced data reliability.

The 24VL024/MS is especially suited for applications where data needs to be stored for long periods, such as in Real-time clocks and handheld gaming devices. The 24VL024/MS offers improved read and write timing, as well as improved reliability, compared to its predecessors.
