35.153 is an international standard developed by the Telecommunications Standardization Sector of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU-T). The purpose of the standard is to provide an interoperable interface for audio and video devices and systems at levels 1, 2, 3 and 4. The interface is commonly known as the “Audio Video Control Protocol”.
The audio and video control protocol (AVCP) is widely used in a variety of fields and applications, including video conferencing, broadcast, media workflow, object recognition and tracking, surveillance, traffic engineering and control, voice over IP, and video surveillance.
AVCP, as defined in 35.153, is an application layer protocol designed to control audio and video devices and systems. The protocol defines client/server relationships and the feature sets of audio and video devices and systems. The protocol consists of several sub-protocols, including the client/server request model, the transport layer protocol, the audio video control (AVC) protocol, the management information protocol (MIP).
The AVCP is designed to allow interoperability between different audio and video devices and systems across the many platforms that are in use today. The AVCP uses an extensible object-oriented structure, making it more flexible than other protocols.
The protocol is organized into the following four layers:
1. Application Layer - This layer defines the overall structure of the protocol, including the client/server request model, the transport layer protocol, and the audio video control (AVC) protocol. It also defines various types of transactions, such as logging on, responding to requests, and providing status information.
2. Transport Layer - This layer is responsible for the end-to-end transfer of data and messages between the client and server. This layer includes the client-server tunneling protocol and the reliable transport protocol.
3. Audio Video Control (AVC) Layer - This layer defines the AVC protocol and provides the basic operations that are used for control, such as real-time control, media control, device monitoring, and event reporting.
4. Management Information Protocol (MIP) Layer - This layer defines the management protocol used to establish and maintain an audio and video service.
The AVCP is designed to be an open protocol that is based on standard protocols and data formats. This allows devices and systems to connect and interoperate without requiring proprietary communication protocols or standards. The protocols and data formats are designed to be easy to implement and maintain, reducing the overhead associated with software development and support.
The AVCP is designed to provide interoperability between different types of audio and video devices and systems. This allows users to communicate and exchange data between different devices and systems without having to purchase and install proprietary software or hardware. The AVCP is also designed to be secure, so that all communications are private and secure.
The AVCP has become an increasingly important standard in the world of audio and video communications. Its standards provide an open and interoperable platform for devices and systems from different vendors to communicate and exchange information. Its standards are designed to reduce the overhead associated with software development and support, making it easier for vendors and users to implement and use audio and video communication systems.
