The 3EZ120D2E3/TR12 is a single Zener diode, a type of diode that is used in a variety of applications. This diode is capable of dissipating up to 0.58 Watts of power and has a maximum forward voltage drop of about 1.5V. Application Field

The 3EZ120D2E3/TR12 is most commonly used in voltage regulator and voltage clamping circuits. In general, Zener diodes are able to regulate voltage levels to a specific voltage by dissipating the excess voltage as heat. The voltage regulation occurs because at a specific voltage the Zener diode begins to behave like a normal diode, which allows current to flow without regulation. This means that when the input voltage is higher than the specified breakdown voltage of the diode, the excess voltage is automatically discharged as heat.
