Working Principle

The 3EZ190DE3/TR8 includes an anode and cathode, where the anode has a higher voltage than the cathode. When the voltage of the anode exceeds the Zener voltage of the diode, electrons from the anode move to the cathode and current starts to flow in the reverse direction – to the anode, instead of the cathode. This current is known as the Zener current.

When the external circuit is connected to the anode and cathode, the voltage of the anode will raise until it is equal to the external voltage. This voltage is called the Zener breakdown voltage (or Zener voltage). The Zener current is constant and indicates the Zener impedance.

This process ensures that the voltage of the anode is constantly regulated and will not deviate from the Zener voltage.
