Optoisolators - Transistor, Photovoltaic Outputs, such as the 4N25-000E comprise of an infrared light emitting diode (LED) coupled to an NPN or PNP open collector output transistor with an associated photovoltaic detector. These devices may also be referred to as optocouplers or photocouplers.

The 4N25-00E is a standard optoisolator that provides a complete isolation barrier between input and output circuits. It has different isolated and grounded terminals for both input and output signals which offers a internal barrier between the signal source and load.
