The 4N29TVM is a photovoltaic output optoisolator manufactured by Broadcom. This device includes an infrared LED opto-isolator and a detector connected in series to form an opto-coupler.
The 4N29TVM Application Field
The 4N29TVM is designed for industrial, commercial and residential applications. It can be used as an interface between digital and analog signal conditioning devices. The 4N29TVM optoisolator has an isolation voltage rating of 1 kV RMS and a current transfer ratio of >40mA. The 4N29TVM optoisolator works on the principle of lightwave transfer. The LED opto-isolator consists of two parts: the LED, and the opto-coupler. When a DC voltage is applied to the LED, the LED begins to conduct electricity and generates light. The light emitted from the LED is sensed by the opto-coupler, which then triggers an electrical signal, thus creating an electrical connection between the input circuit and the output circuit. In this way, the 4N29TVM optoisolator can provide electrical isolation between two circuits while still allowing for the transmission of data.
