Optoisolators or optocouplers offer increased electrical isolation between two or more circuits or systems by coupling them through an intermediary of light, usually a diode. Optoisolators with transistor, photovoltaic output are used to provide electrical isolation between a low volt / low current control circuit and a higher voltage / current output circuit. This is primarily used to protect the control circuit and the device it controls from spikes, surges, and other environmental factors that can cause interference with a system.The 4N33-X007T Optoisolator with transistor, photovoltaic output model is a transfer type device with an integrated photodiode, LED, and output transistor that utilizes a built-in optical isolator to achieve a high degree of electrical isolation. The LED is optically coupled to the input transistor and the photodiode is optically coupled to the output transistor. When current is applied to the LED, light is emitted which is optically coupled to the photodiode, causing it to collect the current from the LED. This current then flows through the output transistor which provides electrical isolation and acts as a switch to control the output load.The 4N33-X007T is designed with a wide-angle optical design which increases the LEDs light intensity resulting in improved performance and extended operation. It also includes low saturation voltage features which provide superior characteristics under conditions of varying input levels and fast operating speeds.
