Fixed Inductors

Fixed inductors are a type of passive component that are made up of a coil or set of parallel winding wires. They are constructed to provide a specific inductance, which is a measurement of a conductor’s opposition to a changing electric current. As expected, inductors store energy in an electric field, but they can also be used to smooth out an electrical waveform, which is why they are often used in filter applications.

5515-RC application field and working principle

The 5515-RC fixed inductor is particularly suited for power line filter applications. It is a flat inductor with a lead in and lead out, and it is to be used in power systems that require high current applications. It has an alternate range of up to 10μH, resulting in a lower core loss and better thermal protection. In terms of its working principle, the 5515-RC inductor works to enhance power line’s high-frequency performance. When a high-frequency current is applied to the inductor, the coils of wire wrap around a metal core, storing energy in an electro-magnetic field.
