Its energy-limiting feature allows the fuse to carry rated current on a continuous basis, while still protecting the circuit against destruction due to an overcurrent fault.The fuse link within the 5ET 400-R operating in conjunction with its interrupting chamber, provides an arc-extinguishing medium when an overcurrent fault occurs. The arc-extinguishing chamber acts as a diffusion barrier, slowing the electrons so an arc can quickly be extinguished. Non-arcing thermally active metal alloys are used to provide maximum overcurrent and overload protection.The 5ET 400-R Fuse can be installed using either the supplied mounting clip, or in the base of a switch disconnector. It can accommodate cables or busbar of up to 25mm² (in a 90°C temperature regime).
