TVS are used in many varietues of applications to protect the equipment against overvoltage and surge events, they can provide protection against lightening strikes and line transients. In this condition, the avalanche breakdown effect occurs and the current through the diode will rapidly increase. This effect causes a voltage clamping to reach a safer level.

The 5KP30C characterizes by a low clamping voltage and excellent surge handling capability. The low clamping voltage makes it effective at preventing overvoltage breakdown in sensitive electronics. Additionally, it has fast response time and very low leakage current for bi-directional applications. The surge handling capability of the diode makes it an ideal choice for high power applications.
