TVS Diodes are also known as surge suppressors, ESD, and surge protection diodes. TVS Diodes protect sensitive electronic circuits from transient system voltage peaks and lightning. The 5KP43C is built using advanced technology, on a substrate of HTMOS, the 5KP43C provides three levels of improved protection for electric and electronic circuits against overvoltage transients caused by lightning and other electrical transients.The 5KP43C is available in a tantalum pacakge with a maximum form capacitance between 0.0498pF and 0.147pF. The 5KP43C has extremely low leakage and reverse Standby Current and is ideal for Automotive, Industrial, Computer, Telecom, as well as many other applications.The 5KP43C application field covers a wide range including: Power supply protection, over-voltage protection, automotive electronics, DC-DC motor drivers, consumer electronics, and telecom. Its working principle is based on a TVS diode’s behavior during an over-voltage. When the voltage exceeds the maximum rated voltage range of the 5KP43C, it immediately clamps the voltage to the specified breakdown voltage and reduces peak voltages.
The implementation of the 5KP43C in a device is designed to provide a wide range of protection against over-voltage transients. In typical applications, the 5KP43C is placed between the input supply and the device under protection and acts as a conductor for discharging induced surges. The 5KP43C application is well suited to a variety of applications including: Automotive, Industrial, Computer, Telecom, and many other important applications.The working principle of the 5KP43C is based on a TVS diode’s behavior during an over-voltage situation. It is also the most effective and reliable method to protect electronics and devices from high-voltage transient surges. The 5KP43C is designed to reduce peak voltages, since it clamps the voltage to the specified breakdown voltage when the voltage exceeds the maximum rated voltage range of the 5KP43C.As with all TVS diodes, the 5KP43C requires the use of external components to protect the line in order to function properly. Commonly used external components include: Transient Voltage Suppressors (TVSs), Transient Voltage Surge Suppressors (TVSS), Low Impedance Bridging Resistors, and Surge Absorbers. The TVS diode alone is usually not sufficient to protect against destructive over-voltages and the application field of the 5KP43C should include the appropriate external components for successful implementation.The 5KP43C can also be used for accurate AC input line protection. The low leakage and reverse standby current, combined with its fast turn-on characteristics make the 5KP43C well suited for this application. It can also be used to improve the performance of other components, such as, snap-off, RC network, and inrush current devices.The 5KP43C is an extremely successful and reliable surge protector, ideal for a variety of applications, such as Automotive, Industrial, Computer, Telecom, and many other important applications.
