6160.0106 Application Field and Working Principle

The 6160.0106 power connector is designed for use in high temperature, vibration, shock and other severe mechanical and electrical applications. Examples of such applications would be medical equipment, industrial machinery, motor controllers and other devices requiring a reliable power connection in a harsh environment. The connector is designed to quickly and reliably connect the power line to the device even under heavy vibration and shock loadings. Additionally, this design provides power protection from transient pulses.

The 6160.0106 power connector is designed to provide a secure plug to recepticle connection. The base unit features an all metal shell and socket to provide a degree of ground continuity. The base features a large buckling latch for secure and reliable mating even if the mating device is installed in a space where the normal direction of force is unavailable. Additionally, the internal contact points are designed to absorb sudden dynamic forces, allowing for connection in high vibration and shock environments.

The contact pins are designed to provide a strong and reliable contact making a tight connection to the mating device. The contact pins are combined into a five-contact setup which ensures a reliable electrical connection while still providing for the use of a single Ground path. Further, the contacts are designed to quickly self-dampen any electrical transient that may occur due to environmental stressors. In this way, the 6160.0106 connector offers optimal protection even in the harshest of operating conditions.

The socket features a gold plated cage which ensures excellent electrical conductivity and also provides corrosion and wear resistance. The socket is capable of accepting a range of voltages of up to 250V and currents of up to 16A. The design also offers a range of support options for grounding, surge protection, filtering, and other power protection features.
