Working Principle

63663-1 Terminals - Magnetic Wire Connectors use a two-piece detachable connector that provides easy assembly and connection in the field. The mating half consists of a fixed female connector that accepts a male contact, secured by a spline, that fits into the fixed female housing. The male contact can be connected with 4 AWG to 10 AWG copper wire. The female side of the connector has a ridge that locks into the male body when the two halves are mated.

At the same time, the male connector half also contains a plunger and a spring which components adds additional contact security providing a variation of manufacturing methods.

The connector also has an external shield plate over the contact area to protect from environmental contaminants and provides strain relief if there is contact movement once the connection is made.

When the contact is mated to the female housing, the male connector half has a locking tab for added security. The contact is removed by pressing the locking tab and extracting the male connector half out of the female housing.
