Temperature Sensors - NTC Thermistors
NTC thermistors are temperature-sensitive, resistors which are produced from sintered semiconductor materials, and are used to measure temperature in a wide variety of applications such as automotive, HVAC/R, industrial, and consumer electronics. These thermistors have a negative temperature coefficient, meaning that as temperature increases, resistance decreases, making them especially useful for temperature measurement or temperature control. The 701030 is an NTC thermistor with a nominal resistance of 10 kohms and a tolerance of 5%, meaning that the actual resistance value may range between 9.5 to 10.5 kohms, depending on the changes in temperature. These thermistors are usually constructed with a ceramic body, two wires, and an internal disc made of a semiconductive material with a heavy doping of either P or N type impurities.
