74AC11257PWE4 is a 8-bit D-type transparent latch with 3-STATE output buffers. It is a type of logic - signal switches, multiplexers, decoders. This latch is designed to interface with most TTL logic families and certain CMOS logic devices. These 74AC11257PWE4 devices can be used for data flow control and buffering applications. The 74AC11257PWE4 device is a 16-pin package consisting of two 8-bit T type latches, each with a 3-STATE output buffer. It is designed to be compatible with most TTL logic families and will also work with some CMOS logic devices. Each latch is clocked by a common clock input and they are cascaded allowing for each of the 8 data inputs which feed into it to be transferred to their respective output pins in sequence. Each stage of the latch can be turned on and off using the latch control (L) input. The 74AC11257PWE4 have a 3-STATE output buffers which allows the output of the latch to be disabled when the output buffer is in its 3-STATE mode. The output buffers are controlled by the Output Enable (OE) input. When the OE input is driven low, the latch output is disabled, and the output pins will shift to a high impedance state, allowing for the output pins to be connected to other devices on the same data bus without contention. This feature allows the use of the 74AC11257PWE4 device in multiple bus architecture applications as a bus transceiver. The 74AC11257PWE4 also have active LOW reset input which will reset the output pins to the LOW state.The 74AC11257PWE4’s latch operation is controlled by the Clock (CLK) pin which is the falling edge-sensitive input. This means that the data present at the Data pins will be transferred to their respective output pins when the Clock input is driven to a logic LOW. The latch control input (L) can be used to stop the latch from transferring the data from its data to its output pins. If the L input is driven LOW, the data that is currently stored in the latch will be retained until it is overwritten by the next Clock pulse.The 74AC11257PWE4 devices are used in many applications such as data flow control, input/output buffering, data conversion, and multiple bus architecture. With its 3-STATE output buffers and active LOW reset, it can be used as a bus transceiver, allowing multiple components to access the same data bus. It can also be used for data flow control and buffering applications.
