The 74AC163SC is a high-speed synchronous 4-bit binary ripple counter/divider/register. It uses a low power Schottky-CLtechnology for high speed and dependability and is a member of a large family of LS parts. It is a CMOS device that is binary-coded accepting a high-frequency non-retriggerable input clock and provides individual outputs to indicate the count. The 74AC163SC application field involves large-scale field-programmable-gate-arrays (FPGAs), programmable-logic controllers (PLCs) clocks, frequency synthesisers and dividers as well as other applications.

Working Principle

At power-on, the 74AC163SC will start counting from 0 to 15 in binary, depending on the value of the count TTL input at power-up.
