The 74ACT258PC is a quad 2-line to 1-line data selector/multiplexer designed for use in fast data-path and bus organization applications. It combines four independent 2-line to 1-line data selectors/multiplexers with the “true” and “complement” outputs for each multiplexer fabricated on a single monolithic chip in a 20-pin package.

The four multiplexers can both select one bit of data from two sources and multiplex two bits of data onto one line. The control inputs, common to all four multiplexers, can be wired permanently to VCC or GND.

The 74ACT258PC is suited for use in applications such as general purpose multiplexing, implementing digital logic functions such as logic gates and flip-flops, control systems and digital data processing. It is frequently used as a decoder for addressable memory in microprocessors, or as a combinatorial data selector or multiplexer in digital systems.
