The 74HCT05 is a Small- to Medium-Scale Integrated (SMSI) digital logic family which offers high speed logic functions in a low cost package. The 74HCT05 works according to the Boolean logic principles. It has two inputs, A and B and an output Y. When input A is high and input B is low, the output Y is high. It is also known as a three-state gate, since it can also provide a third state, which is known as the inhibited state.
