Snap Action, Limit Switches
Snap action limit switches are electromechanical equipment used to detect when a set threshold has been reached in a mechanical system. They are commonly used to limit the travel of a machine\'s mechanical parts, as well as to detect when a specific point in a process has been reached. The snap action switch is also known as a snap switch and makes use of a metal plunger that is normally closed and energised. When the device reaches its limit, the metal plunger will snap into an open position, releasing the contacts and preventing further travel of the machine.
The snap-action switch is an electrical switch which has countless applications across various fields. These switches are primarily used in systems that require a very quick response time due to their ability to switch on and off in less than one second. Also, due to their low-level operating current, they can be triggered by various input sources from thermocouplers, pressure and flow sensors to contact-less proximity sensors.
