EMI/RFI Filters (LC, RC Networks), are used in countless electronic applications such as audio, video, communication, and networking. These filters address either EMI (electromagnetic interference) or RFI (radio frequency interference), depending on the electrical characteristics and design required. The filter types used in these applications most often include various combinations of inductors, capacitors, and resistors to form LC (inductance/capacitance) and RC (resistance/capacitance) networks, with the primary purpose of filtering high-frequency energy.

The 9001-100-1080 application field and working principle is specifically designed to provide an effective solution to EMI and RFI problems. The 9001-100-1080 filter includes an LC card, with a three-bucket configuration, that operates in Three-Mode Operation (LCC, LC, RC). The Three-Mode Operation of the 9001-100-1080 consists of three stages: an LCC stage, LC stage, and RC stage. The LCC stage uses a combination of inductors and capacitors in a bridge configuration while the LC stage functions to reduce high-frequency noise caused by high-speed currents. The RC stage is used to reduce current intensity. Each stage has its own characteristics and must be tuned accurately to provide the desired performance. The overall performance of the filter can be further improved if any additional components such as additional capacitors and resistors, or special absorbers are added.

In addition to Three-Mode Operation, the 9001-100-1080 also includes an EMI filter section which is used to suppress noise in the EMI frequency range up to 100MHz. The EMI filter is configured as a shunt-capacitor filter connected in parallel to the power bus. The filter includes one or more capacitors connected in series, with an additional shunt resistor that helps to absorb noise.
