Magnetic Sensors - Switches (Solid State)

The Allegro A3212LUA-T is a solid state Hall-effect latching sensor IC with integrated fault detection capabilities, intended primarily for use in Magnetic Sensors - Switches. It is uniquely suitable for automotive applications such as gear position sensing and window lift operation where its Hall-effect latching function provides a definite output state in the presence (or absence) of an external field.

Working Principle

The A3212LUA-T\'s Hall-effect latching sensor works by detecting the presence and absence of an external magnetic field. When a field is detected, the output of the device is set to a “high”. When the field decreases or ceases altogether, the output switches to a “low”. There is no need for any predetermined delay in order for the switch to “set” or “reset” as is common with mechanical systems. The sensor is triggered by a minimum field strength, which can be adjusted with an external potentiometer. The A3212LUA-T\'s integrated fault detection allows for an immediate diagnosis of problems, such as an open circuit or foreign material obstructing the operation of the magnetic field. The integrated fault detection helps to maintain the system’s reliability.

Application Field

The A3212LUA-T has been designed primarily for use in applications where a reliable, latching Hall-effect magnetic sensor is required.
