A3213ELHLX-T application field and working principle

Magnetic Sensors - Switches (Solid State)

The A3213ELHLX-T is a two-wire Hall Effect based linear distributed magnetic sensor produced by Allegro Microsystems. The linear distributed magnetic sensors are used to identify and detect speed, displacement, rpm, position, and temperature. They detect rotary and linear motion and can detect angular rotation with a tolerance of ± 15°. The A3213ELHLX-T can be used to measure magnetic field intensities up to 890 mT.

The A3213ELHLX-T sensor works with a power supply voltage ranging from 4.5V to 5.5V. It is housed in an industry standard SOT-23 package and includes two signal pins (analog & digital) along with a third pin for an integrated temperature sensor. A built-in 32 bit CRC (Cyclic Redundancy Check) helps reduce errors in long-distance communications. The operating temperature range is -40 °C to 105 °C.

The A3213ELHLX-T Hall Effect magnetic sensor works on the principle of the Hall Effect. When a magnetic field is applied in the x-axis direction, the current flowing through the Hall element increases and a small voltage, known as the Hall voltage, is generated. This Hall voltage is proportional to the applied magnetic field. The generated voltage is then measured and used for various applications.

The A3213ELHLX-T Hall Effect magnetic sensor is used in various applications such as gear tooth speed and position sensing, magnetically actuated switches, mechanical and moving parts position sensing, absolute speed and position sensing, temperature monitoring, and over temperature protection. It is ideal for use in the automotive, consumer electronics, and industrial automation industries.

The A3213ELHLX-T Hall Effect magnetic sensor utilizes a variety of technologies, such as Analog, Digital, Wake-up, and Transistor Output Mode, to provide accurate measurement of rotational speed and displacement of mechanical parts. It uses Wake-up Mode to recognize external magnetic field changes and send signals to wake up a microcontroller after a period of inactivity. The Transistor Output Mode uses a single digital output to provide linear response with a positive-going or negative-going signal depending on magnetic field direction.

In addition to the built-in temperature sensor, the A3213ELHLX-T Hall Effect magnetic sensor also features a power-saving low-power mode. This mode allows the sensor to operate at low voltage and current consumption, resulting in lower overall power consumption. The A3213ELHLX-T is also RoHS compliant, providing improved safety and environmental protection compared to non-RoHS compliant Hall Effect magnetic sensors.

The A3213ELHLX-T Hall Effect magnetic sensor is an ideal choice for applications requiring improved reliability and accuracy over traditional mechanical sensors.
