PMIC - Motor Drivers, ControllersA3955SB-T is a monolithic bipolar step non-commercial motor driver developed by Allegro Microsystems. It is employed in numerous industrial, consumer, and commercial applications. This device can be used to control brushed DC motors (intended for “unrestricted” 5-30 Volt applications) up to 400 Watts. It has integrated protection features, is fitted with advanced on-chip diagnostics and a thermal shutdown circuit. It also has full bridge and dual half-bridges driving capabilities.The core of this powerful motor driver lies in its basic working principle. Its design enables a wide variety of motor control capabilities. The A3955SB-T utilizes its powerful micro-stepping technology which is used to achieve smooth and accurate position control of a motor within a wide speed range. It specifically uses the “micro-stepping” mode in order to more precisely control the motor position through the use of long pulse train commands that are generated by a controller.
