A3959SLB-T Application Field and Working Principle
The A3959SLB-T is a low voltage, low power controller specifically designed for intelligent control of small brushless DC motors. It is capable of driving the full bridge of DC motors, which is the H-bridge configuration. Working Principle
The A3959SLB-T is a Motor-Driver/Controller that is capable of providing intelligent control, such as the Selection of Start/Stop-Ramp Times and Usage of Modulation-Control Mode, Digital-Control Mode and Linear-Mode for the Control of BLDC Motors. The controller contains a power MOSFET voltage clanking circuit and an internal peristaltic circuit for controlling the startup, stopping and ramping of the BLDC Motor.
The A3959SLB-T contains a regulation section and four identical half-bridge drivers which generate the necessary gate signals. The reference voltage of the regulation section and the gate signals of the half-bridge drivers are generated through a voltage-mode control loop, which is based on the “bang-bang” principle.
The main function of the “bang-bang” control loop is to supply a stable current to the BLDC motor’s winding by controlling the activating voltages and the on-times of the four power MOSFETs. When the motor\'s winding is energized, the generated torque is proportional to the current in the winding. By regulating the motor\'s torque, the controller is able to control the rotation of the motor.
The A3959SLB-T also features multiple control techniques. It can be used to control the speed, direction and acceleration of the BLDC motor by using its various features, such as the user-selectable parameters for output pulse frequency, start/stop ramp time, and active current sense points.
