A398D is an advanced, ultrafast power rectifier diode with innovative features and excellent performance that have helped redefine the industry standard.This single-rectifier diode has a wide range of applications, from power supply and motor control to electronic switching. It can also be used in a surge protection circuit, a high-frequency rectification system and more.

This diode has a peak reverse voltage of 50V and a maximum forward voltage of 20V. The peak pulse current is at 3A and the A398D is able to reach peak rectification efficiency of up to 95 percent. The temperature coefficient is relatively low and the temperature rise is almost negligible.

The A398D features a unique double-folded frontal pillow structure that increases the area of contact between the diode and the static material which enhances the diode\'s thermal conductivity, mitigating the risk of thermal failure. Additionally, the A398D has unusually low capacitance which facilitates the faster responses expected from diodes used in modern circuit designs.

Another advantage of the A398D is its electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). The diode exhibits extremely low radio frequency emission and very low susceptibility to electromagnetic interference. By keeping electromagnetic anomalies in check, it ensures that the surrounding components are not affected by the diode\'s presence.

In terms of working principle, the diode is designed to enable one-way flow of electricity. It is a semiconductor device, meaning it has two electrodes, an anode and a cathode. The flow of electrical current is usually from the anode to the cathode, so this is the direction in which electricity can pass through the diode. The voltage applied between the anode and the cathode determines the behavior of the diode, and is known as the forward bias.

When the forward bias is below the diode\'s critical voltage, the diode does not conduct electricity. However, when the forward bias exceeds the threshold, the diode will start to conduct electricity and the resistance will decrease, allowing more current to flow in the forward bias direction. This behavior is known as minority carrier injection.

For reverse bias, current flow is blocked and only a small amount of current will trickle through the diode, known as leakage current. The small amount of current reduces the capacitance of the diode, which is one of the properties that makes the A398D such an attractive option for sophisticated electronics.
