A4919GETTR-5-T Application Field and Working Principle

A4919GETTR-5-T, a highly integrated gate driver IC of the A4919 gate driver series from Allegro MicroSystems, is designed for general purpose power devices. The device is designed to drive high- and low-side N-channel MOSFETs, thus acting as a switch or synchronous rectifier in power designs, enabling buck, boost and polarity inversion capabilities. Working principle

The A4919GETTR-5-T’s gate driver uses a dual-channel totem-pole output stage architecture, which enables it to simultaneously drive two FETs in single, parallel and half-bridge configurations. The device includes internal charge pump, short-circuit current limit and over-voltage protection circuits to protect the external circuitry and the FETs from over-voltage and over-current conditions. The device also incorporates a slew rate control circuit which allows the user to set the rising and falling edge rates of the output pulses to match the required application.

The A4919GETTR-5-T gate driver’s floating output can be driven internally or externally, allowing the user to use either traditional or improved bootstrap techniques.
