The A4930METTR-T is a motor drivers, controllers and power management integrated circuit (PMIC) manufactured by Allegro MicroSystems, LLC. PMICs are very useful in many applications, ranging from motor control and power management to power topologies, network management, automotive and industrial applications.The A4930METTR-T is a 3-phase brushless DC (BLDC) motor Controller and driver that can provide up to 5A peak current (3A RMS continuous) per phase and is capable of operating any brushless motor using 6 to 80V input voltage. The device contains L6563A full-bridge gate driver, 2-phase power converter, 8 Bit DAC and 3 channel half-bridge drivers and it is designed to be reprogrammed using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signals.The A4930METTR-T features active current limiting, over voltage protection, under voltage lockout, and thermal shutdown to protect the device and system in the event of an abnormal operation. It also includes an advanced serial eFuse to protect the device from electrostatic discharge (ESD) during manufacturing, assembly and shipping.The A4930METTR-T can be used in a variety of applications including, but not limited to, electric vehicle motor control, AC motor control, robotic actuators, Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS) and home automation.The A4930METTR-T is programmed by an external microcontroller, such as a PIC or AVR, which sends digital signals to the A4930METTR-T to accurately adjust the PWM frequency, and to set and read registers. The external microcontroller must also provide a clock signal to the device and is responsible for controlling the bridge logic. The A4930METTR-T uses a closed loop speed control to accurately adjust the speed of the motor while keeping the output current in the desired range. The device features an adjustable current sense amplifier that allows the user to adjust the current level and can be used in a reversible or non-reversible configuration. In addition, the device also provides an adjustable soft-start feature that allows the user to adjust the start delay and ramp-up rate of the motor. Finally, the device has a Hall-Effect sensor interface that allows the motor to be used in a brushless motor mode.The A4930METTR-T also includes an integrated 6-bit output DAC for velocity control, as well as an integrated digital-based proportional-integral-derivative (PID) regulator to provide torque and speed stability.The A4930METTR-T uses advanced power conversion techniques to ensure that the motor current is always in the desired range and that the motor will not draw more power than it can handle. The device also includes protection from over-current, over-voltage, and over-temperature, ensuring that the motor will not be damaged due to abnormal conditions.Overall, the A4930METTR-T is a highly reliable, robust, and cost-effective way to drive brushless DC motors. The device provides an integrated, high-performance solution for motor control and power management applications, and it is ideally suited for applications in the automotive, industrial, and consumer markets.
