AD004-02E Application Field and Working PrincipleThe AD004-02E magnetic sensor switch is a type of solid state switch classified under magnetic sensors. It is a non-contact switch designed to detect the presence of a magnetic field in order to make decisions or work accordingly. AD004-02E magnetic sensors are primarily used in office automation and other applications such as motorized doors/garage doors, security systems, medical equipment, water meters, switches for gas appliances, automotive components, vending/gaming machines, and HVAC systems.The AD004-02E solid state switch contains two components: a reed switch and a magnetic trigger. The reed switch is an discrete on/off electrical switch that snaps open or closed when a magnetic field is present. It consists of two ferromagnetic elements that are held in contact by a small gap resulting from a hermetic seal. When a magnet moves close to the sealed area, the two elements become aligned and close the electrical circuit. When the magnet moves away, the two elements separate and the circuit opens.The magnet trigger in the AD004-02E not only acts as the source of the magnetic field in which the reed switch will react, but also works as the indicator of when it will open or close the circuit. The direction and distance of the magnet must be carefully monitored, so the switch knows when to turn on or off. Depending on the principle of operation, this magnetic switch can be normally open, normally closed, or change-over.AD004-02E magnetic sensor switches are able to detect the presence of a magnet in close proximity with a high level of accuracy. This allows the switch to activate without the need for any physical contact between two objects making them suitable for applications where adjustment and/or frequent access is needed. Because the reed switch is housed in the hermetically sealed glass tubular enclosure, it is also protected from environmental conditions such as dust, moisture and extreme temperatures.AD004-02E magnetic sensor switches offer several benefits compared to traditional mechanical switches, including a longer life span due to the lack of physical contact between components and improved accuracy.
