The AD5325BRMZ is a low cost, flexible, single, 12-bit serial input digital-to-analog converter (DAC) with a voltage output range from 0V to 3.3V. The AD5325BRMZ is available with an operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C and is offered in the space-saving 8-lead SOIC, 16-lead TSSOP, and both 0.5 mm and 0.65 mm VQFN packages. This device’s power-down feature allows the user to reduce power consumption via a serial data shutdown mode.
The AD5325BRMZ offers all the features needed to build cost-effective, single-supply systems. On-chip programming of the DRV Current Limit and the DRV Output Selection are provided. The DRV Current Limit is adjustable both externally and through the serial data interface. The DRV Output Selection feature allows users to select between a single-ended output or an inverting/non-inverting output, eliminating the need for an external switch. User-programmable features allow for optimization of power consumption, minimizing noise, and current limit flexibility.
The AD5325BRMZ offers fast settling time and precision power-on reset. To save power, the device may be programmed via the serial interface to disable the DAC sub systems, and only selected channels can be activated inside the power-down mode. The AD5325BRMZ may also be powered down via the serial interface and all code data is retained in the device’s 3-wire serial interface.

The AD5325BRMZ is widely used in medical imaging devices, medical instrumentation, high resolution audio, data acquisition systems, instrumentation, testing and monitoring applications, opto-electronic systems, industrial control and control interfaces. These devices are also often used for instrumentation and testing applications because of its high quality and precision.
Working Principle
The 12-bit DAC in the AD5325BRMZ generates a digital code to a reference voltage, Vref, and then the voltage provided is amplified and buffered by an output amplifier. The output amplifier can be configured to accept a positive or a negative reference voltage. The serial data interface controls the output of the DAC, providing a flexible programming of gain, offset and voltage range. The gains are programmed via memory registers. The DAC has a power down feature that disables all DAC subsystems while the reference voltage buffered output is maintained. The DRV (driver) output can be set to provide a single ended voltage or a bipolar voltage with a range of ±Vref.
The AD5325BRMZ operates from a single +3.3V (±10%) power supply, with a total supply current of 350μA. The low power consumption makes this part ideal for applications where power is of a premium. The part is specified over an operating temperature range of –40°C to +85°C. The part is also available in an 8-lead SOIC package, 16-lead TSSOP and both 0.5mm and 0.65mm VQFN packages.
The AD5325BRMZ features an internal voltage reference. This reference has a typical tolerance of ±2.5% over the –40°C to +85°C temperature range. This allows for increased precision due to the decreased error inherent in the internal reference.
The AD5325BRMZ offers an integrated, low power, single-supply DAC with an output range from 0V to 3.3V. It provides 12-bit resolution and is easy to integrate into single-supply systems. It features a programmable DRV output selection for single-ended output or inverting/non-inverting differential output.
