Working Principle

The AD5339ARMZ is a delta-sigma DAC which means it functions by using a combination of digital and analog signals to convert an input digital signal into an output analog signal. Delta-sigma DACs are hybrid digital/analog devices that use a delta-sigma modulator in conjunction with a switch-capacitor array to convert a digital code into an analog voltage. The process beings with the input digital signal being fed through the delta-sigma modulator, which is a type of noise-shaping filter that converts the data from its ‘raw’ form into a more processed form that is ready for conversion into an analog signal. The output of the modulator is then fed to the switch-capacitor array, which is a set of switches connected to a network of capacitors that functions as a digital-to-analog converter. These switches and capacitors are used to control the voltage at the output of the switch-capacitor array, which is the analog output of the delta-sigma DAC. This analog output is then fed to the user’s application where the signal is used to control a device or process.

The AD5339ARMZ DAC has been designed to provide excellent performance with a wide range of input digital signals. It uses its delta-sigma modulator and switch-capacitor array to convert digital signals with 8 or 12-bit resolution into high-accuracy and high-precision analog voltages. It has an excellent temperature coefficient of 5ppm/°C, making it highly-suitable for use in temperature-critical industrial and medical applications.
