AD5541JR is a 12-bit-resolution Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) in a low-power, space-saving 10-pin form factor. It features an internal DAC, reference, and fault protection. Additionally, the AD5541JR is ideal for providing voltage control points in active filters, oscillators, and analog to digital converters.The AD5541JR’s working principle is as follows: Digital data is sent to the converter via the serial data input pin. The data arrives in two parts: the 8-bit control word, which is written to the internal DAC register, and the 4-bit shift register value. This shift register value is combined with the 8-bit control word in the DAC register to form the 12-bit control word which is the input for the internal DAC engine.The DAC engine then processes the 12-bit control word and outputs an analog voltage which is proportional to the digital number stored in the DAC register. This voltage output is routed to the external output pins of the converter. The output range of the converter is generally 0V to Vref, where Vref is an externally applied voltage.The accuracy of the AD5541JR is ensured by its on-chip parity check feature which checks the 16-bit input stream for any errors. Any error found is flagged in the c-error pin of the converter, which can be monitored by the microcontroller and corrective action taken if need be.The AD5541JR’s small form factor, low power consumption, and low-cost make it the perfect choice for a wide array of data acquisition and control applications.
