Working Principle of the AD5647RBCPZ-R2

The AD5647RBCPZ-R2 works by taking a 16-bit parallel digital data word and converting it into a corresponding 12-bit analog voltage within an accuracy of 12-bits (better than 1/4 LSB), with a precision reference voltage generator. The digital data is sent over the parallel data interface which feeds into an input shift register. The 12-bit data then passes through an internal DAC converter and is converted into a corresponding analog voltage, which can then be connected to the device output.

The output of the device is dependent on the input gain (the reference) and the digital data. The device can operate in either “Unipolar” or “Bipolar” modes and the corresponding output voltage can range from 0 volts to the reference voltage or from -Vref to Vref. The output settling time is 10 μs typical.

The CS pin can be used to reset the DAC output voltage back to its default state, 0 volts. This pin can also be configured to automatically enter low power mode when the CS pin is inactive. By activating the DSP bit, the offset of the digital-to-analog converter is actively compensated for improved accuracy.
