The EVAL-AD5684RSDZ Evaluation Board is a Digital-to-Analog Converter (DAC) board designed to evaluate the performance of the AD5684 high-resolution, 8-bit monotonic digital-to-analog converter chip. The EVAL-AD5684RSDZ is a versatile evaluation board suitable for a variety of application fields, such as industrial and process control as well as consumer and medical audio applications. The board also comes with several features designed to make evaluation and characterization of the AD5684 devices easier and more efficient.
The EVAL-AD5684RSDZ Evaluation Board provides a programmable, 8-bit digital interface for connection to an external controller. The board can be operated in either of two modes: SYNC or SINGLE. In SYNC mode, the board allows simultaneous data transfer to all eight DACs. In SINGLE mode, each DAC can be independently programmed and/or updated with new data.
The EVAL-AD5684RSDZ Evaluation Board features two separate data buses, one for DAC configuration and a second bus for DAC data. The DAC configuration bus can be used to choose between different output modes, such as buffered, unbuffered, bipolar, current sink and current source. The DAC data bus allows for 8-bit digital values to be applied to the 8-bit DACs. The board also offers four output range selections – 10 VFS, 5 VFS, 2 VFS and 0.5 VFS.
The board also comes with several power supply and control features for enhanced and easy system integration. The on-board +3.3 V LDO provides voltage regulation for the on-board logic. The board provides two circuit card edge connectors for external power supplies, one for the logic and the other for the DAC supply. The board also includes EMI filtering, over-voltage protection and a power-on reset circuit.
The EVAL-AD5684RSDZ Evaluation Board also offers a variety of analog output options. There is a 0 V to 10 V differential analog output for connection to a differential input device or system. There is also a 0 V to 10 V single-ended analog output for connection to a single-ended input device or system. The board also comes equipped with two auxiliary outputs for monitoring the chip status and/or for system debugging. The outputs are TTL and can be used to monitor the current DAC data bytes and other system flags.
