The AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 is a high-performance 16-bit, voltage output digital-to-analog converter (DAC). It features programmable power-on reset, serial programming for all registers, and power-on/off switching. This device is ideal for use in applications such as digital audio, automotive audio, industrial process controls, and instrumentation.The AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 includes a voltage reference and an internal 58dB THD+N (Total Harmonic Distortion plus Noise) filter, allowing direct connection to a speaker, eliminating the need for an external amplifier. It also features a current source output for directly driving headphones, biasing systems, providing buffer stages, or amplifier build-ups.The AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 offers maximum distortion products at a tenth of the level of conventional DACs, while offering up to 16-bit resolution and up to 73dB dynamic range. It also contains several advanced features such as fully differential input buffers, high-frequency complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) outputs, programmable reset and current sources, and an adjustable power-on reset.The AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 features an on-chip , low-noise, 10ppm/ºC reference with a ±0.25% accuracy over a temperature range of -55°C to +125°C. The device requires a single 5V power supply and is compatible with all low-voltage, single-supply systems. The DAC architecture of the AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 was designed to provide a low-noise, low-distortion output. The architecture is based on a differential architecture which maximizes dynamic range and reduces die area. The DAC architecture is also designed to reduce distortion and noise products, resulting in a maximum distortion level of -73 dB.The core of the DAC is an on-chip high-performance CMOS comparator. This comparator compares the input voltage to the reference voltage and produces an output based on the comparison. The output of the comparator is then converted to a digital signal, which is then fed to a multi-bit DAC. The output of the DAC is then fed to an output stage, which is a complementary pair of NMOS and PMOS transistors. This output stage provides the high-current output that is needed for driving the speaker or headphones.Finally, the AD5667BCPZ-REEL7 also includes a number of power management features to ensure that the device operates correctly at all times.
