The AD745JRZ-16 is a single-seat, 16-bit CMOS analog-to-digital converter (ADC) with a 16-bit serial output and both single-ended and differential inputs. It is designed specifically for applications in which both small size and low power consumption are important. The device features a low-voltage analog power supply of 5V.The AD745JRZ-16 is a single-channel device and can be used in applications requiring single-ended input, such as audio signal processing. The basic principle of operation is as follows: An incoming signal is amplified by the gain stage and then digitized in the ADC core. For each bit, the analog signal is stepped through several voltage levels, the least significant bit (LSB) being the largest. When the analog input of a given bit matches the reference voltage level of that bit, the output of the ADC is latched and that bit result is held until all higher bits are converted. The result is then read by a serial logic interface. As the interface shifts out bits from the MSB to the LSB, the status of the bit is transferred from the ADC core to the interface. When all bits have been read, the interface can send a start conversion command to the ADC core to begin the next conversion cycle.The AD745JRZ-16 is well suited for applications where high resolution and accuracy is required, such as in medical, industrial and aerospace applications. The device has a unipolar input range of 0V to +5V, and a differential input range of -5V to +5V. It is designed to provide a low noise and low power consumption solution with simple interfacing. The AD745JRZ-16 offers a wide range of features, such as an internal self-calibration mechanism, test mode for verifying ADC operation, and an on-chip temperature sensor. It is also power down capable and supports programmable operating modes, allowing it to be used in more demanding applications.
